Ruins of a 16th Century Castle and Drystone Walls in Perthshire

Not far from the Souterrain is the ruin of castle likely dating from the 16th century, with modifications made in the 19th Century.
Walking to this castle down a farm track I noticed the most beautiful, settled in drystone wall. I hope all walls I build will one day look as comfortable as this one.

The castle is in a serious state of disrepair but still retains some lovely stonework and features.

In the castle gardens were a couple of lovely wee finds. A huge twisted tree trunk and beautifull crafted, stone gateposts. We’re very lucky in Scotland to have so many tangible remnants of our past to explore, but just a reminder to be very aware, and to stick to any warning signs or taped off areas when looking at ruined buildings. They are intriguing but can also be very dangerous.
